The Story

Set 10 years after the atomic bombing in the still recovering city of Hiroshima, Sadako Sasaki and her friends, each with their own dreams for the future, go about their lives with determination and smiles, having overcome the dark days of the war and believing in their futures.
Little do they know that darkness is coming in a different form: radiation, a silent threat. When Sadako falls ill from radiation, she fights, putting her hopes for peace and health into each paper crane she folds. As she continues making paper cranes, her hopes also reach the hearts of her friends.
While Sadako passes away in her youth, her wish for peace lives on in those around her. Despite their sadness at Sadako’s death, her passing inspires her friends to create the Children’s Peace Monument to spread her message to the world.
This musical is a message to the future from children who never gave up hope even when times were tough and continued to move forward while believing in peace. It is an anthem of peace that will resound in the hearts of audiences everywhere.
